Rates of Decline from Amnestic MCI to Alzheimer Disease Lead Investigator: Jaimie Spoors Institution : Argosy University Illinois E-Mail : jaimie.spoors.1@us.af.mil Proposal ID : 554 Proposal Description: Receiving a diagnosis of AD dementia can severely impact one???s expectations for the remainder of their life, yet because of the lack of knowledge regarding the rate of decline they can expect it may still leave room for many questions. The purpose of this study is to increase the knowledge of how cognitive decline progresses from aMCI to AD dementia. By comparing rates of decline for the commonly affected domains, this study can present information to providers regarding rates of decline across areas of functioning commonly disrupted by aMCI using well-known assessment tools. Providers can then use this data to inform their treatment recommendations and provide insight about what deficits a patient may expect and how quickly they may deteriorate. In addition, by controlling for well-known variables including age, gender, education, and APOE4, the results of this research may be applied across different demographics.
